Roles in interior design are both highly coveted and extremely competitive – but a good qualification in the subject, combined with as much work experience as you can get, should give you a way in.
Interior design courses usually cover a wide range of subjects, so that students are able to understand all aspects of projects – from building design to soft furnishing manufacture and those all-important finishing touches.
As in most art and design subjects, teaching will usually combine formal and practical elements, giving students the chance to work in teams and independently, and to gain essential experience of project management and professional communication.
